" Durante la II Guerra Mondiale, in cui occorrevano alloggiamenti immediati per le truppe, Fuller propose un modello di semplicissima costruzione, chiamato Dymaxion Dwelling Machine, che poteva essere spedito ovunque dentro un... barattolo e montato in poche ore. Un prototipo di 11 metri di diametro fu finalmente costruito a Wichita nel 1946. Pur basandosi su principi simili ai precedenti, invece che esagonale era rotondo, e anche il tetto era curvo. Le pareti non erano più trasparenti, ma anch'esse d'alluminio, e l'impianti di legno. Alla fine fu venduto per... un dollaro...."
